What is a Ramble? The Ramble
is BROOD's premier revenue raising event of the year, and it's
also a lot of fun! Before the Ramble, we ask that you gather "pledges" from
your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Remember all
those Girl Scout Cookies you've bought over the years -- now it's
payback time! A pledge sheet is
available that will allow you to keep track of the pledges you
get. All pledges are tax-deductible for the giver. Note that if
you are collecting pledges in advance via FirstGiving,
please BRING YOUR RECEIPT to the Ramble in order to be considered
for the grand prize.
This year's theme is XTreme Bassets - XTreme Ears,
XTreme Vocals, XTreme Derriere, even an XTreme Hat Contest for
your dog! Whether your dog is a couch potato or an olympic class
athlete, we have a contest (and Ramblewear!)
for you. Buy your Ramblewear NOW
because we will have very little inventory available at the Ramble.
You've been warned!
The Ramble is our biggest fundraiser of the year
and allows you to help generate badly needed money for homeless
dogs, meet other BROODers, and have a great time, rain or shine!
There are incentives for the top six pledge getters, including
a custom oil portrait of your dog
by David Dowbyhuz for the top pledge getter.

Other incentives include:
- Over $100 in pledge money - your choice from over a dozen dog
charms!
- Over $500 - dog charm plus a beach umbrella!!
- Over $1000 - dog charm, plus a beach umbrella plus a
beach chair!!!
It's all at one
location this year, so no need to go anywhere else for the fun. However shade
is limited so
please plan to bring your own tent or beach umbrella along with your
chairs and blankets.
Schedule for Saturday:
- Food available all day – PIG ROAST!
- Registration is at 10:00 (with goodie bags!!!)
- Games from 11-1:30
- Xtreme Basset contest: 1:30-2:00
- Presentation of prizes to the top 6 pledge earners:

8 Motel in Thurmont;

Friday night out-of-towners get together will be at the
Super 8 Motel Hospitality room. We'll have food, and dogs are allowed and
encouraged to attend. There are other eating establishments close by as
well.
If you don’t have a basset, rent one for the day! Many of
our foster bassets will be there and available to share in the fun.

XTreme Basset Contest:
- Xtreme Ears: Longest ears. One ear only to be
measured.
- Xtreme Freckles: First prize to the dog with the most freckles.
- Xtreme Kisser: Dogs to kiss their owners. Extra credit for sloppy kisses.
- Xtreme Vocals: Best barker or howler. All else being equal, howling
to be preferred over barking.
- Xtreme Derriere: Dogs to be judged on waddling charm and movement.
- Xtreme Hat Contest: Owners and dogs must BOTH wear complementary
hats. Points for homemade or Ramble made hats.
