arvin
the lap dog
My husband and I adopted Arvin in July of 2000. He was found as a
stray in Spotsylvania County, infected with heartworms which were
treated successfully by his foster parents. At the time, we had Kelly, a
female basset that we got from a co-worker when she was a puppy. We
wanted a playmate for Kelly, so we went to BROOD and did a little
searching and that is how we found Arvin.
He has been a wonderful addition to our family. I always say he
should have been a cat as he loves to sleep-especially on the sofa. He
is also more than ready to go to bed when it is bedtime and only
grumbles a little when he has to be helped in bed. He has the most laid
back personality of any dog we have ever had and is a perfect complement
to Kelly who is more active and outgoing.
Arvin does not have a mean bone in his body and I have had several
people who would be more than willing to take him, but we will never
give him up! Arvin's favorite things to do are sleep, eat and
sleep. He even thinks he is a lap dog and doesn't mind plopping 60
pounds of basset right on our laps!
My husband and I think he realizes that he has it made, and my sister
has even made the comment that she would like to be one of my dogs. We
try to take them with us whenever we go somewhere as both Arvin and
Kelly love to be around people. They both love cats and other dogs
and Arvin does not mind going to the vet at all as long as he gets a
treat.
I try and tell everyone about how we got Arvin and what wonderful
dogs bassets are. I keep the BROOD information in the car so when we are
out and about with Arvin and Kelly, we can pass it on to people as the
two of them always draw a crowd!
Thanks BROOD for helping us find Arvin!
