this boy has charisma!

We are the proud Brood owners of Bennie. When we decided to adopt a BROOD dog, we decided to take on a "youngster" since had lost two bassets, due to health issues. BROOD helped connect us with Bennie who was being fostered by Jill. We knew this was a perfect match as soon as she e-mailed his photo. We adopted him on Memorial Day weekend.

Would you believe just as he was adjusting to us, he broke a toe (probably digging) and spent eight weeks in a cast. When we picked up Bennie at Jill's, he was terrified of vehicles. He would travel fine, but shake at the sight of a car or truck. I guess the numerous trips to the vet helped overcome his fear of vehicles. (Not to mention the hugs and kisses from the staff.)

Since we adopted Bennie he has been to Cape Hatteras, NC, Smith Mountain Lake, VA and just graduated from Obedience School. Now he begs to go for rides. While visiting Smith Mountain Lake we took him to the Blue Ridge Folk Festival at Ferrum College. Every few minutes, total strangers would come up and ask to pet Bennie. Bennie was a champ considering his initial fear of strangers. People even asked to take his picture, and we heard more basset stories than you can imagine. With every "petting" we told about Bennie's BROOD rescue -- we even met a young couple from Northern VA who has been to the Ramble. Bennie got petted so much I'm surprised he has hair left on his head.

I also have to mention that one day in Obedience Class, a woman spotted him driving down the road and pulled into the parking lot to find out where she could get a basset because Bennie was so cute. The instructor stopped Obedience Class so Bennie's "Dad"/trainer could tell the woman about BROOD. Guess Bennie has charisma!

Thanks BROOD!
