will sing for cheese!

Hi everybody! My name is Breckin, and I would just LOVE to tell you about myself!

I just turned four last December, but I ended up in BROOD with my Basset mom, my sister and my two brothers when I was just a few weeks old. Apparently we were too much for someone to handle, and we ended up in a wonderful foster home where we had lots of other bassets to play with, and all the human attention we could stand. No one seems to know what kind of dog my dad was - people have guessed everything from springer spaniel to border collie - but my Mom says I'm plenty Basset-enough for her - apparently I sure can sing like one!

Anyway, my Mom found my picture on the Internet one night, and she says she knew right away she had to have me. And a few emails, phone calls, and house visits later, I had a new family and home to call my very own. And, let me tell you, I am one LUCKY Basset boy! Thanks to my Mom, my Grammy, Poppy, and my uncle Dan, I always have an endless supply of treats, a warm bed to sleep in, and two willing arms anytime I feel like I need a big hug!

I used to help my Mom when she worked at Doggie Day Care. It was my job to sit in the front lobby and make sure that anyone who walked through the front door had a Basset Hound's belly to rub. It was a hard job, but I was dedicated! I also got to take obedience and agility classes - and my mom soon learned that I'll do just about ANYTHING for a piece of cheese! We definitely proved that Bassets are much smarter than people think!

But now that I'm a little older and my mom has a different job, I have to stay home during the day. Luckily, I have a big backyard that's full of rabbits, groundhogs and birds to chase - so I have lots to do. And I have my two big doggie sisters Sadie (a yellow chow) and Jessie (a black lab) to keep me company. They didn't come from BROOD like me, but we all know how lucky we were to have been adopted by such loving people.

And, my Mom tells me all the time how lucky she is to have found me - so every night in our bedtime prayers we thank BROOD for bringing us together, and pray that all the other Bassets out there find loving homes too!!
