a
commendation for fritz
Fritz is my name, and
I'm here to tell you that I'm living the good life with my
new adopted family! Let me begin by telling you a little about my background.
In January of this year, BROOD was kind enough to take me from a shelter in
Maryland where I had been rescued from a dog hoarder.
After a couple of months with a great foster family, I was adopted by my new
parents, Brad & Jennifer of Gloucester. Boy, did I have lots to investigate
when I arrived at my new home. You see, they live on a farm with horses, chickens and cats. I even have a little
brother, Major. He's also a basset and sometimes rather bothersome because he's only a pup and very playful. BUT, my favorite new best friend is a donkey
named Travis. Yes, you heard me right, a donkey. It's not like we chase each
other around the yard, but we both like to just sit and relax while we watch
"Spastic Pup" (Major) run himself to exhaustion!
I love my Mom and I'm getting more comfortable with Dad (I'm very afraid of
men). I'm starting to put on a little weight, which I really needed, and my
eyes and coat are now bright and shiny! I have a large yard in which to play
and a very spacious, fluffy bed I share with Major in our very own "Doggie
Room." On weekends, we go for a ride in the big truck and sometimes we get a
vanilla frosty!! Mom spoils all her pets: chickens get cranberry sauce, cats
get tuna and the big guys in the barn get ginger snaps (all in moderation of
course). We go for walks, have wrestling matches and tug-of-war battles.
Naturally, my favorite time is right now, late evening, when all the farm chores
are done and I'm cuddled up next to Mom. I'm getting lots of attention while my
little brother is spending time with Dad on the other side of the room. I am
comfortable and relaxed and becoming quite sleepy because I feel safe, secure
and loved. (long yawn)
Thanks for reading my story. (blink, blink) Goodnight.

A note from Fritz’s mom: I just wanted everyone to know that Fritz received a
commendation and he is now "Colonel Fritz," which our friends and neighbors
think is really cool since we already have a "Major" (named in honor of Brad’s
dad). Everyone ask if there will ever be a "General" in the family. I promised
hubby no more pets, but we'll see!
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who were instrumental in bringing Fritz
to us. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. Your caring and kindness
does not go unnoticed, and your efforts are truly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone here at Abingdon Farm would like to extend our gratitude to BROOD:
Brad, Jennifer, pets: Lexi, Chelsea, Major, Fritz, Remote Control, Bits-O-Gold,
Travis and
The Chic-Inn Girls.
BROOD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, incorporated in
the Commonwealth of Virginia.
