harley - ho-ho-home at last!

Ho ho ho HARLEY - waiting for Santa!!!Life is good when you're a basset hound!Hi all you nice BROOD people. My name is Harley. It used to be "Fred", but Harley sounds much more "Macho". I was offically adopted on New Year's Eve, 2001, but I got to go to my forever home on Dec 17, 2001. I am Three years old, and I am a very handsome tri-color Basset. I used to live with some other family, but they gave me up right at Christmas time. I can't imagine why they gave up a sweet boy like me, but they did. My new Mom and Dad fostered me over Christmas because they wanted me so bad, and didn't want me to have to stay in a kennel over Christmas. I was afraid that Santa wouldn't be able to find me, but that wasn't a problem.

When Mom and Dad came to get me, I thought I was being taken to another kennel, but instead they took me to PetsMart, a really great place, where they don't make you stay in the Car! It smelled really good , and I could tell lots of other dogs had visited there.

I'm a snow dog!In case you wondered why I'm called Harley ... They then took me home to Chambersburg, PA, and I got to meet their two legged daughter, named Bre. She is a strange girl, who leaves out tuna sandwiches for me to grab, but then acts like I wasn't supposed to take them. I met the three cats who live at my house too. There is Roto, a big grey cat who wants to be a Basset, a smaller grey stripey cat , named Mouse who eats my food when I am not looking, and a little white cat, named Poco who seems to have an air leak, (she is always hissing at me).

It's been three months now, and I know I have found my forever home. My Mom, Tonjia says she has had Bassets before, and she loves me very much. My Dad, Dana, is new to dogs, but lets me sleep on his lap, and takes me for long walks. I am so glad to have a nice comfortable home, where my people love me. Thanks to BROOD for bringing us together.

P.S. I will be coming to the Ramble in May, and hope to meet lots of other Bassets!

Yours truly,
Harlan Sanders Tweedy
