dear santa paws,

Me 'n my brudder Dudley!I just learn little bit 'bout Tanksgivin' not too long 'go. On Tanksgivin' I gots to taste new taste called turkey that was very very good. Also my family talk about being tankful - for each utter, for our home, for our country, and even for ME! Dudley (he my big basset brother) tell me I's one lucky dog. Him tell me he tankful I get rescued!

(Last December, our family lost our beloved basset, Captain. We had him since he was a pup and he was twelve and a half years old. We knew we wanted another basset, we had Dudley who was not yet two, and the kids, ages 7, 4, and 1, wanted a puppy. Me just after I was 'dopted! We also knew we wanted to go the rescue route, as we've been attending Boardwaddles and had many online friends involved in some way or another with rescue. We decided to wait for a puppy, as with the ages of our kids, we wanted a basset that didn't have too many "issues" and were willing to wait until one became available - preferably in the spring. Well, things have a way of happening unexpectedly, and at the end of January, 2001, Anne Paullin of BROOD contacted me and said she had a puppy - did we want her? She was just 9 weeks old and the tiniest basset I've ever seen! Anne and Lauren brought her to us and, for Dudley and Mabel, it was love at first sight. Ditto for the rest of the family. We decided to keep her name given to her by her rescuers and she has brought so much happiness to our family. We still miss our old boy, Captain, but sometimes feel he sent her to us. Sometimes Mabel acts very much like him! We would like to thank Anne, and BROOD for bringing her to us!)
