ralphie hits the jackpot

Hi my name is Ralphie and I hit the basset jackpot!

How can you resist this face?!?I'm an old guy, who decided to take a trip into the big world one day.  Well, while wondering around sniffin' away I ended up being arrested.  I really don't know why, cause I didn't break the law.  So here I am in jail and Betty the lady at the Newport News SPCA kept a close eye on me.  She knew nobody was going to adopt me so she gave the BROOD lady a call. Thank goodness, 'cause that was my last day in jail and I wasn't ready to go to the big park in the sky.

I went to the Doctor and they found out I had heart worms, so I went through treatment.  I was really tired and coughed a lot, but my foster mom really took care of me.  She was the best.  I got a brand new fluffy bed and every night she'd tuck me in nice and tight with one of her homemade blankies.  After the heartworm treatment I got "fixed", which I could have done without.  "They" seemed to be working just fine, though Ellamae my cute foster sister didn't appreciate my flirting.  And then feeling fine again I got an abscessed tooth.  Boy, a lot of things break down when your old, but they pulled my tooth and I was back on my feet.

Well after a few months mama kept saying you can't stay Ralphie and then she'd give me a big hug.  Then one day I heard her say to daddy "whats one more basset".  I knew it!  All those big sad eyed looks worked.  I now have an "official" mommy and daddy, plus five doggy brother and sisters.  Wow, I told you I hit the jackpot.  My doggy angel was watching out for me that day I decided to take a trip. And now I'm a happy, whining, barking, playing hound boy.  Oh, by the way I had a 9th birthday the 24th the same day as Mommy's, now isn't that a coincidence.  Hoowwwwlllll.

Thank you BROOD for caring so much for us basset hounds, we really appreciate it!
