birthday belle

Hi everyone, my name is Sally Belle.  I was given up by my first family  because they were moving. I lived with three other dogs and sometimes they weren't very nice to me.  I would have to snap and growl at them just to get my food.  It wasn't much fun.

Then one day a BROOD Volunteer named Sue came to my house to take me for a ride in her car - I whined because I was afraid.  Sue took me to another person's house and this lady, Melinda put me in her car  but this time there was another dog so I only whined a little as we took our ride to Diane's.  Finally, just when I thought I was at my new house another lady came, put me in her  car and off we went again! Three rides in one day was more rides than I had ever taken! 

This new lady told me that she was my NEW mom and I was a birthday gift for Dad only he didn't know about me.  She called me a surprise.  I had never been a surprise before so I didn't know that was something really great!  She said, "Dad is going to love you Sally Belle."  She also said I would have two brothers to play with me.  So we drove to my new home. I was a little afraid because my last dog brothers and sisters weren't very nice.  She let Barney out first and then Harrison.  Barney barked at me  'cause he gets afraid of other dogs sometimes but I wagged my tail and he came to sniff.  I must be irresistible 'cause then we played.  Harrison came out and he knew I was afraid since he had been a BROOD dog too -  so we just played right away.

When Dad came home  he was really surprised when mom said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!  She was right - he loved me right away!  He said I would love it here. There was lots to sniff and lots of treats.  Sometimes we take car rides and go on trips and you know what -  Dad was right.   In a few weeks we went to the BROOD picnic and it was fun.  There were lots of hounds to play with and lots of them were adopted -just like me.  Mom says "adopted" means someone really, really wants you!  

She said I have my forever home and I never have to find a new family again. I love my new mom & dad and my new brothers .   Thanks BROOD - those scary car rides were worth it to get to my new family!
