beach princess

I started life as "Casey" in a family of children. After my family decided they were no longer able to care for me, I was sent to the SPCA but quickly went to a BROOD foster home. One month later, I found my lifetime companion.

That's me sitting in Mom's lap, coming home from the beach! My new mom had recently lost her 15 year old Basset and couldn't be happier when I came home with her. She renamed me "Sophie". Mom and I had to learn all about each other - she found out I like to run (and therefore I got an acre fenced in just for my pleasure!) and I learned she likes me to sleep in the bed with her but prefers it if I don't jump on her stomach.

We both learned how much fun it is to travel and meet new people and animals - we've gone to the beach, camping, road trips, to visit the grandparents, etc. - and everywhere we go, people learn my name. We have even had neighbors at the beach ask if they could take me for a walk!

I especially love children (mom's a little miffed because her niece learned to say "Sophie" before mom's name !). My mom takes me to work with her sometimes, too, where I act as a therapy dog for her clients with mental retardation.

My favorite non-human companion is my cat buddy Max who follows me everywhere I go. Life is great- especially the cuddle time my mom and I share each day. I can't imagine a better time than snuggling on the sofa with mom and the two cats.

Thanks, BROOD, for bringing me home!
